Lady Pirates Grab Divisional Crown
KALISPELL – The Whitefish boys and Polson girls walked away with the team titles Saturday at the Western A divisional tennis tournament. Singles champion Matt Harris paced the Bulldog boys to a total of 58 points, which was 31 more than Bigfork and Columbia Falls, who tied for second. Libby scored 22 and Polson finished with 21. Harris posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Scott Taylor of Bigfork for the boys’ singles title. Grant Getts and Jake Ronish from Columbia Falls took the doubles title with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Matt Whitehead and Zachariah Deister. The doubles tandem of Kayla and Kendyall Rochin helped the Polson girls earn their team championship. The Pirates scored 62 points and were followed by Libby (40), Bigfork (28), Whitefish (22) and Columbia Falls (9). Rochin and Rochin claimed the doubles title in a 6-0, 6-3 win over Nichole Newman and Anna Valentine from Libby. Jackie Mee collected the singles championship with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Polson’s Jane Probst.
