Stevensville shutdowns Pirate offense

By JOHN HEGLIE

At Polson in their season opening homestand, Pirate boys soccer fell to Stevensville, 7-2.

Kaden Nelson got Polson on the board with the first goal of the season, assisted by Elijah Taylor, who received a long through ball delivered by Keith Erickson.

On a subsequent Pirate offensive series, Kaden Nelson was fouled, resulting in Polson being awarded a penalty kick, which Keith Erickson lofted into the back of the net past the Jacket keeper.

But Nelson had picked up his second yellow card for expressing his dissatisfaction over the magnitude of the hit, resulting in his ejection from the game and ineligibility to play in the next one.

Due to inordinately large number of active COVID-19 infections in Yellowstone County, the road series with Laurel and Billings Central has been cancelled. The Pirates will host their first conference match against Columbia Falls mid-month.
