Polson girls repeat as State A golf champs
ANACONDA – For the girls from Polson, winning state championships has become habit forming.
The Polson girls’ golf team captured its second straight State A golf championship on Saturday at Old Works Golf Course.
The Pirates, owners of three straight State A softball titles, put together team rounds of 356 and 366 for a 722 total for 36 holes, a full 57 strokes better than second place Laurel. Whitefish was third, another seven strokes behind Laurel.
The Pirates placed four of their golfers in the top eight, led by Jaylin Kenney, who finished third at 170. Nicole Clairmont was sixth at 182, Anna DiGiallonardo was seventh at 183 and Peyton Anderson was eighth at 187.
Livingston’s Christal Tokash won a two-hole playoff with Erin Tabish of Whitefish to take medalist honors. Both golfers finished at 165 through 36 holes.
Darby McNally of Frenchtown was 10th at 194 and Simone Craft of Whitefish was 15th at 199.

Polson, Belgrade capture State A golf titles
ANACONDA — Polson’s girls repeated as team champion Saturday and Belgrade’s boys came away with their first crown at the conclusion of the State A golf tournament at Old Works Golf Course.
The individual medalist honors went to Sidney’s Bobby Frank and Livingston’s Christal Tokash, who won a playoff.
Polson’s girls, with four girls in the Top 10, prevailed by 57 strokes over Laurel, 722-779. Jaylin Kenney led the way for the Pirates with her third- place finish.
Teammates Nicole Clairmont, Anna DiGiallonardo and Peyton Anderson went 6-7-8.
Whitefish was third at 786 and Livingston fourth at 816.
Laurel’s Carlee Hart placed fourth individually and teammate Morgan O’Neill fifth for the runner-up Locomotives.

Polson girls lead State A golf by 28 shots
ANACONDA – The Polson girls lived up to their billing on the first day of play at the State A golf tournament Friday at Old Works Golf Course.
The defending state champs carded a team score of 356 to open a 28-stroke lead over second place Laurel. Whitefish is third, an even 40 strokes behind the Pirates.
Jaylin Kenney topped the leaderboard with an 80 and was joined in the top nine by three of her teammates: Nicole Clairmont and Peyton Anderson, who are tied for sixth with 91, and Anna Digiallonardo, who is ninth at 94.
Livingston’s Christal Tokash is two strokes behind Kenney, while Erin Tabish of Whitefish and Laurel’s Carlee Hart are four strokes behind.
