Pirates nip Broncs in low scoring contest

At Salish Kootenai College in Pablo for the Polson boys basketball season opener Thursday, the host Pirates squeezed out a 30-29 win against Hamilton that went down to the wire. Trailing 28-29 with 25.6 seconds remaining, Polson’s Jarrett Wilson corralled the rebound of a narrowly missed Broncos shot at one end of the court and sailed coast to coast, scoring the winning basket with a three seconds remaining on the clock. Wilson finished with a team-high nine points.

Pirates slam Cats
Polson 81, Columbia Falls 49
On Saturday at Columbia Falls, the Pirates turned in two huge middle frames on their way to a convincing 81-49 NWA conference win. Five Pirates scored in double figures. Colton Graham led the way with a team-high 22, while Jarrett Wilson and Xavier Fisher collaborated on 25 points. The Pirates generated 20 assists over the course of the contest with Wilson, Darian Wiliams and JC Steele dishing four each. Trevor Lake crested the double century point plateau for varsity career scoring.

Polson roars back, downs Frencthown
Polson overcame a 27-18 halftime deficit to score a 52-50 win over Frenchtown. Polson (3-0) stole a Frenchtown inbounds pass with 4.1 seconds left to secure the win after outscoring the Broncs 21-7 in the third quarter and 34-23 in the second half. Jarrett Wilson had 18 points for Polson, Darian Williams scored 10 and Colton Graham added nine. Brandon Finley led Frenchtown with 12 points, Devin Shelton scored 11 and Jeff Jacobs had 10.

Pirates remain undefeated
Jarrett Wilson led with 16 points and Xavier Fisher backed him with 11 as Polson remained unbeaten with a 58-46 toppling of Libby. The Pirates led 19-10 after one quarter. Caden Williams scored 17, Jay Beagle 13 and Cy Stevenson 11 for the Loggers.
